      Novaicos is the acronym of Novara and ICOS the molecule studied within the company. Novaicos Srls was founded in May 2016 as and Academic Spin-off company by a group of researcher from University of Novara and University of Torino. NOVAICOS is an innovative Start Up

      Novaicos’ approach

      All the innovations in medical field were born from collaboration between industries, clinicians and researcher worldwide. Novaicos’ team strongly believe that this is the correct way to achieve great goals in a real innovation and are devoted to translational research that involves different professional figures.

      Ilaria Roato PhD

      President, CEO/CSO
      lab coordinator and responsible for biomaterials.

      Degree with honors in Medical Biotechnologies in 2002. PhD in Advanced techniques in locating/identifying human cancers, University of Turin in 2007. Clinical Immuno-Pathology, post-graduate specialization course, University of Milan in 2008. She was member (2017-2022) of ECTS Academy, as talented Post-Doc research in the musculoskeletal field in Europe. Since 2007 to 2019 she directed the osteoncology Lab. at Center for Research and Medical Studies, A.O.U. Città della Salute e della Scienza of Turin, Italy. Her studies were focused on bone metastasis from solid tumor, with particular attention to study non-small cell lung cancer and the role of cancer stem cells in the formation of bone lesions through in vitro and in vivo models. Since 2015-2020, she was involved in projects concerning the regenerative treatment of osteoarthritis with adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (CTO Hospital, A.O.U. Città della Salute e della Scienza of Turin). Since 2020, she is the principal investigator of Dental and Bone Bioengineering Lab, located at CIR Dental School (Department of Surgical Sciences), following projects on oral cavity diseases and continuing her studies on bone metastasis and osteoimmunology, with a focus on the comprehension of the interaction among cancer stem, bone and Natural Killer cells. She is author of more than 60 publications in international peer-reviewed journals. h-index 27, with more than 1800 citations.

      Prof. Umberto Dianzani, MD, PhD

      R&D supervisor, Communication manager.

      Degree with honors (Università di Torino) in 1984. PhD degree (Università di Genova) in 1990. Post-doctoral fellow at University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1985, and at Yale University in 1988-89. Associate professor of Immunology at University of Pisa (1992-93) and at Università del Piemonte Orientale at Novara (1993-99). From 1999, full professor of Immunology, Università del Piemonte Orientale at Novara. President of the Interdisciplinary Research Center of Autoimmune Diseases (2003-2010). Vice-rector for International Relations, Università del Piemonte Orientale (2011-2015). From 2012, head of the Department of Health Sciences, Università del Piemonte Orientale. Member of the Italian Society of Immunology Clinical Immunology and Allergy, the Italian Society of Pathology and Translational Medicine, the American Association of Immunologists, and the Medical Academy of Turin. Co-author of 153 scientific publications on immunology, oncoimmunology and autoimmune diseases. Total impact factor >800, H Index 35, total citations >4300. Within Novaicos he is R&D supervisor and Communication Manager.

      Patrizia D’Amelio, MD,PhD

      Clinical Area Manager

      Associated Professor University of Lausanne, Geriatric and Geriatric Rehabilitation Unit, Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV). She was Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Gerontology at the University of Torino, she founded a lab devoted to translational bone research in human model and described, for the first time in literature, osteoclastogenesis from peripheral blood cells in post-menopausal osteoporosis. Her main research interest is osteoimmunology and has several collaboration with European and extra-European scientists in the bone field. She is co-author of 54 articles in impact factor journal with more than 800 citation, she is in the editorial board of 5 interantional journals and associated editors of the Journal Clinical Reviews in Bone and Mineral Metabolism. She won 9 Young investigator awards, participated with invited lecture to more than 40 national and international meetings, is the owner of the patent TO2006A00565 for an image analyses software to detect osteoclast ability to resorb bone in vitro. Within Novaicos she is responsible for the clinical development.

      Maurizio M. Zuzzaro is the founder of the financial web site He was former director of the investment fund WDF SICAV PLC, has more than 10 years of experience as financial analyst within the market of value exchange and energy raw materials.

      He is author and co-author of plenty of articles in the field of Technical Financial Analyses, member of the following societies: Italian Society for Techincal Analyst (SIAT), Italian Financial Markets Association (Assiom Forex). Within Novaicos he is financial strategist.

      Prof.ssa Roberta Cavalli – Full Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the Dept of Drugs Science and Technology University of Torino – Coordinator of the Group Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Technology (PHARCOTEC). Expert in formulations of nano-structured materials for therapeutic drugs delivery.
